SAP launches real-time data analytics tool

SAP launched the SAP Digital Boardroom analytics tool, which aims to contextualize and simplify performance reporting across areas of business on a real time basis through digital assistants such as Amazon Alexa.

The SAP Digital Boardroom will enable an interactive board discussion, and give decision – makers a simplified boardroom process, by allowing board members to analyze large volumes of data, and identify business risks and opportunities in real-time.

"Technology is changing the rules of business and disruption is becoming the norm. As business leaders we need to absorb, understand and adapt with agility and speed to constantly changing circumstances,” said Deb Deep Sengupta, President & Managing Director, SAP Indian Subcontinent - "this is a true business advantage all C-Suite executives need in the fast-moving cloud economy."

SAP Digital Boardroom is expected to utilize SAP HANA Cloud Platform to provide a single source of information about a company’s critical business metrics.

The Digital Boardroom will work with any digital assistant such as Apple Siri, Microsoft's Cortana or Google's Home, said N Sekar, Vice President, Engineering, SAP LABS India. He added that the data which will be made available through voice commands will be from large unstructured data sources and will include social media sources as well.

When required to make highly informed business decisions, board members, executives and decision-makers are often faced with separate reporting solutions that present data in a static, isolated way. SAP Digital Boardroom gives senior management and C-Suite executives access to business data and analytics, allowing them to gauge their company’s standing in the market as compared to their competitors.

It aims to harmonize the view of company operations across all lines of business on multiple devices. This view enables users to understand the past, assist in predicting the future and helps in faster and better decision-making in today’s era of digital transformation, the company said in a statement.

Planned new key features and enhancements to help IT transform include:

Database management – IT organizations will be able to provide business continuity with enhanced high availability, security, workload management and administration enhancements. For example, the new active/active read-enabled option enables IT organizations to leverage secondary systems – previously used only for system replication – to off-load read-intensive workloads for improved operations.

Data management – Businesses are expected to leverage data, regardless of where it resides, with enhancements to enterprise modeling, data integration, data quality and tiered storage. A new edition of the SAP Enterprise Architecture Designer Web application that works with and is powered by SAP HANA allows IT organizations to manage complex information architectures and visualize the potential impact of new technologies before they are implemented.

Analytical intelligence – Developers are embedding rich insight into applications with enhanced analytical processing engines for text, spatial, graph and streaming data. For example, new algorithms for classification, association, time series and regression have been added to the predictive analytics library to empower data scientists to discover new patterns and incorporate machine learning into custom applications.

Application development – Developers are expected to build and deploy next-generation applications with enhanced functions for application servers, development tools and languages. For example, bring-your-own-language support provides a choice of additional third-party build packs and runtimes that can be used within SAP HANA extended application services, advanced model. Also, a new file processor API enables developers to extract text and metadata from documents to deliver deeper insights.
