Role Description – Data Migration Lead (Service Capability)
 
Program context: 
S/4HANA Transformation – Service Capability
 
Background and need
 
As part of a global harmonization initiative, Siemens Energy is upgrading its current SAP platform with the 
objective
 to standardize and streamline business processes across all units.
 
Within this transformation, Service Capability covers a set of complex and highly interconnected processes and data domains, including equipment structures, service orders, product data, and historical transactions. Ensuring that this data is 
accurate
, complete, and consistently structured in the target system is a critical prerequisite for a successful implementation.
 
The data migration effort involves multiple dependencies across the program, business stakeholders, and different capabilities, requiring strong coordination, clear ownership, and structured execution.
 
To ensure the required quality, progress, and alignment across all phases of the transformation, a dedicated Data Migration Lead is 
required
.
 
Mission / Purpose of the role
To ensure that all data 
required
 for Service Capability is correctly defined, prepared, migrated, and 
validated
, enabling successful execution of testing phases and a stable go-live in S/4HANA
The role 
is responsible for
 driving the data migration workstream in a structured and proactive way, ensuring that data quality and availability do not become bottlenecks for the overall program.
 
Responsibilities and delivery scope
 
Own and drive the end-to-end data migration workstream for Service Capability.
 
Define and 
maintain
 a clear structure for migration scope, data objects, ownership, and planning.
 
Ensure alignment between data migration, process design, testing, and release planning.
 
Identify
 and define relevant data objects within the migration scope.
 
Drive data cleansing and ensure required data quality levels are achieved.
 
Ensure data validation before and after each migration cycle.
 
Plan and lead execution of mock cycles (Mock 0–3).
 
Coordinate activities across the program, business stakeholders, different capabilities, and external partners.
 
Manage dependencies to other areas such as process design, integration, and testing.
 
Identify
, manage, and escalate data-related risks and blockers.
 
Ensure 
timely
 resolution of data issues and gaps.
 
Provide structured reporting on status, progress, and risks to project leadership.
 
Establish and 
maintain
 structure for data requirements, gaps, actions, and follow-up.
 
Ensure transparency, traceability, and clear decision support throughout the data migration workstream.
 
Accountable for driving structure, transparency, and follow-up of data-related requirements, gaps, and actions within Service Capability.
 
Competence and experience
 
Solid experience working with SAP, preferably within service-related processes.
 
Understanding of
 SAP S/4HANA and template-based implementations.
 
Experience from
 transformation, harmonization, or system implementation initiatives.
 
Ability to work in a global environment and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
 
Strong communication
 skills in English.
